I ran across this problem with photoshop once, and I want to share my solution to you
Photoshop as well as your other programs place temporary files somewhere in your hard drive, the longer you used your computer the more your temporary files is growing, and this use a big space in your hard drive.
The solution: (Windows XP)
Click start and then run
In the text box in the Run window, type %Temp% and click Ok. this is the shortcut to your temp folder
Once your temporary folder opens, you will see lots of files inside, it is safe to delete all of those
Press CTRL A to select all the files and hit del button on your keyboard and confirm delete this may require to restart your photoshop to take effect
